Job summary
Placements24 is seeking a Senior Petroleum Geologist for a fully remote role focused on subsurface interpretation, prospect identification, and geological risk assessment in the Oil & Gas sector. You will integrate seismic, well log, and core data to define reservoir potential and guide exploration and development, collaborating with geophysicists and asset teams from a home-based setting.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Geology or Earth Sciences required; Master's preferred.
- Minimum 7 years of hands-on exploration or production geology experience.
- Expertise in seismic interpretation, well log analysis, and core description.
- Proficiency with Petrel, Kingdom, and GeoGraphix.
- Strong sedimentology, stratigraphy and structural geology knowledge.
- Excellent analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and remotely.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
- Legal right to work in South Africa.
Responsibilities
- Perform detailed geological interpretations of seismic, well logs, and core data to define traps.
- Identify and evaluate new exploration prospects and development opportunities.
- Integrate geological, geophysical, and engineering data to build subsurface models.
- Assess geological risk and uncertainty for ventures.
- Collaborate with geophysicists to refine seismic interpretation.
- Contribute to field development planning and well proposals with geological input.
- Prepare geological reports, presentations, and maps for reviews and partners.
- Stay updated on technologies in petroleum geology.
- Participate in virtual team meetings and multidisciplinary studies.
