Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Senior Geotechnical Engineer for a fully remote role focused on Mossel Bay, Western Cape coastal projects. You will lead geotechnical investigations, design deep foundations, and model soil-structure interaction for marine environments.

The ideal candidate holds a Master’s in Geotechnical Engineering with Pr. Eng. status or equivalent, and 10+ years of coastal/marine experience. Strong remote collaboration and technical leadership are essential.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or related field.
• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) registration with ECSA is strongly preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive geotechnical experience with coastal/marine projects.
• Expertise in foundations for port facilities, bridges, and offshore structures.
• Strong skills in soil-structure interaction and geotechnical modeling software.

Responsibilities

• Lead geotechnical investigations for major coastal/marine projects.
• Design and specify deep foundations, retaining structures, and ground improvement.
• Run advanced numerical models for soil-structure interaction and seismic analysis.
• Prepare investigation reports, design docs, and risk assessments.
• Provide expert consultation to design teams and clients.
• Interpret CPT and PVD site data and oversee field investigations.
• Review contractor submittals and support remote queries.
• Manage project scope, budget, and schedule for geotechnical tasks.
• Ensure compliance with international codes and best practices.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team knowledge.
