Placements24 is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer for a fully remote role with a national scope in South Africa. You will lead geotechnical investigations, analyses, and design, applying soil and foundation engineering expertise across diverse projects.

The ideal candidate holds a Master's (Geotechnical/Civil), PrEng with ECSA, and 8+ years of experience, plus proficiency in Plaxis, GeoStudio, and Rocscience. Remote work requires self-discipline and strong communication.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field.
• PrEng registration with ECSA or equivalent.
• 8+ years of progressive geotechnical experience.
• Extensive geotechnical software experience for analysis and modeling.
• Knowledge of soil/rock mechanics and foundation engineering.
• Ability to manage complex projects from inception to completion.
• Strong report writing and communication skills.
• Remote-work capability with a dedicated home office.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage geotechnical investigations.
• Perform complex analyses for foundation design, slope stability, and earthworks.
• Develop geotechnical reports, design recommendations, and specifications.
• Collaborate with structural, civil engineers and project managers.
• Utilize geotechnical software for modeling and analysis.
• Review construction plans and provide technical support during construction.
• Mentor and guide junior geotechnical engineers and technicians.
• Manage timelines, budgets, and client communications for geotechnical work.
• Ensure compliance with geotechnical standards and regulations.
• Contribute to proposals and client meetings for business development.
