Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to lead offshore site investigations and design analyses from a remote base with a Durban focus. You will perform soil mechanics analyses, seismic assessments, and guide foundation design for wind farms and oil & gas installations.

You will develop comprehensive reports, collaborate with marine and structural engineers, and supervise junior staff while ensuring compliance with international offshore standards.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Geotechnical/Civil Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years' offshore geotechnical experience.
• Experience with offshore foundation design for wind turbines, platforms, subsea pipelines.
• Knowledge of soil characterization, lab testing interpretation and numerical modeling.
• Familiarity with offshore site investigation techniques and equipment.
• Strong report writing and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan offshore geotechnical site investigations (CPT, boreholes, geophysics).
• Interpret data and perform soil mechanics analyses for foundations (piles, gravity bases, anchors).
• Conduct seismic hazard and liquefaction analyses.
• Develop geotechnical reports with design recommendations and risk assessments.
• Collaborate with marine/structural engineers and PMs for integrated designs.
