Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join a fully remote team delivering impactful civil engineering projects across South Africa. You will oversee complex investigations, analyze data, and provide expert recommendations while guiding remote project teams and site personnel.

The ideal candidate holds a Master’s in Geotechnical Engineering with 8+ years of experience and a PE/Pr.Eng designation, proficient in Plaxis or GeoStudio, and capable of leading

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years of geotechnical engineering experience.
• Professional Engineer (PE) or Pr. Eng designation required.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage geotechnical investigations, including site characterization and sampling programs.
• Analyze soil and rock mechanics data, and conduct advanced geotechnical modeling.
• Develop foundation designs, slope stability analyses, and ground improvement strategies.
• Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports, technical specifications, and design recommendations.
• Provide expert geotechnical advice to project teams, clients, and contractors.
• Oversee the execution of field and laboratory testing programs.
• Review and approve geotechnical designs and construction submittals.
• Mentor and guide junior geotechnical engineers, fostering their technical and professional growth.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant South African National Standards (SANS) and international geotechnical codes.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery of technical reports and solutions.
