Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly experienced Senior Flight Operations Officer to join our global operations team in a remote-first setup. You will coordinate flight operations, planning and dispatch, ensuring compliance with ICAO and SACAA standards while leading teams under time pressure.

Ideal candidates will have a degree in aviation or related field, 7+ years in flight ops, and proficiency with Jeppesen/Lido/fMS.

Qualifications

Degree in Aviation Management, Aerospace Engineering, Geography or related field or equivalent experience.
Minimum 7 years in flight operations or related aviation role.
Flight Dispatcher license or equivalent certification desirable.
In-depth knowledge of ICAO Annexes, SACAA regulations and international standards.
Strong meteorology, aerodynamics, navigation and ATC systems knowledge.
Experience with flight planning software (Jeppesen, Lido/fMS).
Excellent decision-making, problem-solving and analytical skills under pressure.
Strong communication, leadership and teamwork for remote collaboration.
Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

Oversee and manage all aspects of flight operations including planning, dispatch and monitoring for routes and aircraft.
Ensure compliance with ICAO, SACAA and international regulations.
Analyze weather, NOTAMs and data to assess risks and plan contingencies.
Coordinate with flight crew, ATC, maintenance and other ops teams.
Make critical decisions on delays, diversions and cancellations for safety and efficiency.
Develop and optimize flight plans considering fuel efficiency and regulatory constraints.
Monitor in-flight status and support flight crews.
Manage irregular operations and recovery plans (IROPS).
Maintain detailed flight logs and records.
Contribute to continuous improvement of ops procedures and safety management systems.
