Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Civil Design Engineer to join a fully remote team working on major national infrastructure projects in South Africa. You will lead civil design, develop documents, and ensure compliance with SANS and client specs while collaborating with distributed project teams.

The role requires 8+ years' experience, a Civil Engineering degree, and ECSA Pr. Eng registration. Remote work demands strong self-management and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering; Master's degree a strong advantage.
• Professional registration with ECSA (Pr. Eng).
• Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in civil design engineering on major infrastructure projects.
• Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit, InfraWorks or similar design tools.
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Lead the civil design aspects of large-scale national infrastructure projects.
• Develop detailed engineering designs, calculations, and construction documents using CAD/BIM software.
• Conduct site analyses and feasibility studies for projects regardless of location.
• Collaborate with virtual project teams using online collaboration tools.
• Ensure designs meet SANS, regulatory requirements, and client specs.
• Provide mentorship to junior engineers and drafters remotely.
• Perform peer reviews of designs and submissions.
• Participate in virtual design reviews and client consultations.
• Manage project documentation and maintain accurate records.
