Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Remote Senior Actuarial Analyst for a leading international insurance firm. You will conduct complex actuarial analyses, develop pricing models, and assess financial risks across lines of business from anywhere in South Africa.

The role requires at least 5 years of actuarial experience, proficiency in R/Python/SQL, and progress toward actuarial exams. You will collaborate with underwriting, finance, and claims teams and mentor junior staff in a fully remote setting.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years actuarial experience in the insurance industry.
• Progress towards or completion of actuarial examinations is essential.
• Strong proficiency in actuarial software and advanced Excel.
• Excellent analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience in pricing, reserving, or modeling for Life/Non-Life/Health lines.
• Strong knowledge of South African insurance regulations and statutory requirements.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to explain complex concepts clearly.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple remote projects.

Responsibilities

• Perform pricing, reserving, and risk analyses for multiple lines.
• Develop, implement, and maintain actuarial models using advanced software.
• Analyze insurance data to identify trends and forecast outcomes.
• Collaborate with pricing, underwriting, and finance teams on strategy.
• Assist in valuation of liabilities and capital requirements.
• Prepare reports and present findings to senior management.
• Ensure compliance with actuarial standards and regulations.
• Mentor junior staff within a remote team and drive process improvements.
