Placements24 is seeking a Senior Actuarial Analyst for a fully remote role within a leading life insurer in South Africa. You will perform pricing, reserving, financial reporting, and product development analyses, guiding strategic decisions with robust models and data insights.

The ideal candidate is near or fully qualified, with 5+ years in life insurance, proficiency in Prophet/AXIS, R or Python, and strong communication skills to explain complex results to non-actuarial stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Strong quantitative, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication to explain technical concepts.
• Experience with pricing, reserving and financial reporting in life insurance.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex actuarial calculations for pricing new life insurance products and ensuring profitability.
• Develop, maintain, and validate actuarial models for reserving, solvency, and forecasting.
• Prepare statutory and regulatory financial returns and reports.
• Conduct experience analyses (mortality, morbidity, lapse) to inform pricing and reserving assumptions.
• Support product development with actuarial input and analysis.
• Collaborate with finance and risk teams on projections and capital adequacy.
