Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Remote Actuarial Analyst to join its actuarial team, working entirely remotely from South Africa. You will develop and maintain complex actuarial models for pricing, reserving and forecasting using Prophet/ALFA, R, Python and SQL.

You will analyze large datasets, prepare detailed reports for management and regulatory bodies, and collaborate with underwriting, finance and product teams, while progressing toward FIA/FSA designations and staying current with industry

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or closely related field.
• Progress toward actuarial designations (e.g., FIA, FSA) strongly preferred.
• Experience as an Actuarial Analyst in the insurance industry (≥3 years).
• Expertise in actuarial modeling software and programming languages (Prophet/ALFA, R, Python, SQL).
• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and validate sophisticated actuarial models for pricing, reserving, and financial forecasting.
• Analyze large datasets to identify trends, assess risk exposures, and support strategic business decisions.
• Prepare detailed reports and presentations for management, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders.
• Collaborate with underwriting, finance and product development teams on various projects.
• Stay current with industry best practices, regulatory changes, and emerging actuarial techniques.
