Job summary

Placements24's client, a well-established logistics company in Pietermaritzburg, is seeking a Payroll Specialist to manage payroll remotely. The role offers full remote flexibility while supporting payroll accuracy and compliance.

The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of SA payroll experience, with proficiency in VIP Payroll or Sage and strong Excel skills. You will ensure PAYE, UIF, SDL compliance and maintain confidential records.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of payroll processing experience in a South African context.
• Solid knowledge of SA payroll legislation: PAYE, UIF, SDL.
• Proficiency with payroll software (VIP Payroll / Sage) and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Process weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly payroll accurately and on time.
• Calculate wages, deductions and net pay in compliance with legislation and policies.
• Manage payroll data inputs (new hires, terminations, changes, leave).
• Ensure accurate PAYE, UIF, SDL contributions.
• Prepare and submit payroll reports to management and authorities.
• Reconcile payroll data with GL accounts.
• Address employee payroll queries promptly and professionally.
• Maintain confidential payroll records and data integrity.
• Stay updated on payroll law changes and best practices.
• Assist with payroll audits as required.
