Placements24 is seeking a Renewable Energy Systems Electrical Engineer to join a fully remote team advancing solar, wind, and hybrid projects. You will design, develop, and optimize electrical systems, perform grid interconnection studies, and support commissioning from a distributed environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in electrical engineering with renewable energy focus (solar PV and/or wind).
• Proficiency in electrical design software (AutoCAD, PVSyst or similar).
• Strong understanding of power electronics, AC/DC systems, and grid integration principles.
• Knowledge of South African grid codes and electrical standards (SANS, IEC).
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting and meet deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication for collaboration.

Responsabilités

• Design and engineer electrical systems for solar PV, wind turbine, and hybrid projects.
• Conduct detailed electrical load analysis, power quality studies, and grid interconnection studies.
• Specify electrical equipment including inverters, transformers, switchgear, and cabling.
• Develop single-line diagrams, electrical schematics, and layout drawings using CAD software.
• Perform site assessments remotely and support on-site installation and commissioning teams.
• Ensure designs comply with national and international electrical standards and grid codes.
• Collaborate with project managers, developers, and external stakeholders to deliver projects.
• Support procurement by developing technical specifications for electrical equipment.
• Troubleshoot electrical issues and provide guidance during construction and operation.
• Research and evaluate new technologies to improve performance and cost-effectiveness.
