Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Minimum 5 years of process safety experience in the chemical industry.
• Thorough knowledge of PSM standards (OSHA PSM, EPA RMP).
• Proven experience with PHAs and RCAs.
• Strong understanding of chemical processes and safety principles.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
• Based in South Africa with reliable internet for remote work.

Responsibilities

• Conduct PHAs (HAZOP, LOPA, What-If) for new and existing processes.
• Develop and maintain Process Safety Management (PSM) programs.
• Investigate incidents and perform root-cause analysis (RCA).
• Provide expert guidance on process safety principles and regulatory requirements.
• Review designs and MOC processes to embed safety from the start.
• Develop and deliver process safety training for site personnel and engineers.
• Stay current with industry best practices and emerging trends in process safety.
• Collaborate with site personnel, engineering teams and management to foster safety culture.
