Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Process Safety Engineer to join our client’s team, working remotely with oversight for facilities near Nelspruit. You will develop, implement, and manage process safety programs to protect people and assets in oil and gas operations.

Responsibilities include conducting PHAs (HAZOP/LOPA), leading incident investigations, ensuring regulatory compliance, and delivering training.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in process safety engineering, preferably Oil & Gas.
• Strong knowledge of PSM elements and risk assessment techniques.
• Experience with incident investigation methodologies and safety management systems.
• Familiarity with API/NFPA codes and standards.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive Process Safety Management (PSM) programs.
• Conduct Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, LOPA, and what-if studies.
• Oversee incident investigations, root cause analysis (RCA), and corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with process safety regulations and industry standards.
• Develop and deliver process safety training to personnel.
• Manage mechanical integrity programs and ensure effective safeguards.
