Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Process Development Engineer for a fully remote role based in South Africa. You will develop and refine chemical processes, focusing on scalability, efficiency, and sustainability, and design pilot-scale studies to support product scale-up.

You will collaborate with R&D and manufacturing teams remotely, analyze data, write technical reports, and contribute to process models and simulations. A bachelor’s in chemical engineering and 3–5 years’ experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in process development, scale-up, or R&D within chemical/pharma.
• Proficiency with laboratory equipment and pilot plant operations.
• Experience with process simulation software and statistical analysis tools.
• Strong remote communication and self-motivation.

Responsibilities

• Design and conduct experiments to optimize new synthesis routes and processes.
• Analyze experimental data using statistics and report findings to R&D and engineering teams.
• Develop process models and simulations to predict performance.
• Oversee pilot plant operations and data collection.
• Write technical reports documenting development activities.
• Collaborate remotely with cross-functional teams.
