Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Senior Process Development Engineer to lead the development and scale-up of novel chemical processes in a remote-first environment based around the Mossel Bay area. You will design experiments, analyze results, and translate laboratory findings into viable commercial-scale operations.

You will collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, and engineering teams to overcome complex technical challenges and drive product innovation from concept to market, while mentoring junior

Qualifications

• PhD or Master’s in Chemical Engineering required.
• Minimum of 7 years' experience in process development and scale-up.
• Strong background in reaction engineering, separation technologies, and process design.
• Proficiency with process simulation software and statistical analysis tools.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and track record of remote project leadership.

Responsibilities

• Design, execute, and analyze experiments for new chemical processes.
• Develop scalable manufacturing processes from bench to pilot and full scale.
• Conduct techno-economic assessments and feasibility studies for proposed processes.
• Troubleshoot and optimize existing processes to improve performance and cost.
• Author technical reports, patents, and process documentation for remote distribution.
• Collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, and engineering teams in a remote-first setting.
