Job summary

Placements24 seeks a remote Process Design Engineer with 5+ years of chemical engineering experience to lead conceptual and detailed designs for new processes and plant modifications.

You will develop PFDs and P&IDs, perform mass and energy balances, run simulations (Aspen Plus, HYSYS), size equipment, and prepare PDPs while collaborating with dispersed teams and upholding safety and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Chemical Engineering from an accredited university.
• At least 5 years of process design experience in chemical manufacturing.
• Proficient with process simulation tools (Aspen Plus, HYSYS or equivalent).
• Solid understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat/mass transfer.
• Experience creating P&IDs and PFDs.
• Familiar with Process Hazard Analysis techniques.
• Excellent remote communication and time management.

Responsibilities

• Develop PFDs and P&IDs for new processes and modifications.
• Perform mass and energy balances for unit operations.
• Run process simulations with Aspen Plus or HYSYS.
• Size and specify reactors, heat exchangers, pumps and columns.
• Develop PDPs for new projects.
• Collaborate remotely with project managers, vendors and on-site teams.
• Conduct PHAs and implement safety recommendations.
• Optimize existing processes for efficiency, yield and environmental impact.
• Ensure designs comply with industry codes, standards and regulations.
• Prepare technical reports and present design concepts.
