About the Role

Our client, a globally recognized leader in the design and construction of complex chemical plants, is seeking an experienced and visionary Principal Chemical Engineer to join their highly skilled, remote-based engineering team. This is a fully remote position, offering unparalleled flexibility to work from anywhere. You will be responsible for leading the conceptual and detailed design of advanced chemical processes, ensuring technical excellence, innovation, and adherence to the highest industry standards. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the process design and engineering for major chemical plant projects from conceptualization through to execution.
• Develop, review, and approve process flow diagrams (PFDs), Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), mass and energy balances, and equipment specifications.
• Perform advanced process simulations and modeling to optimize process performance and ensure operability.
• Conduct and lead Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) and provide technical input for safety reviews.
• Mentor and guide a team of chemical engineers, fostering technical development and best practices.
• Collaborate with clients, project managers, and other engineering disciplines (mechanical, electrical, civil) to ensure integrated project delivery.
• Provide technical expertise and troubleshooting support during the construction and commissioning phases.
• Stay abreast of emerging technologies, industry trends, and regulatory changes impacting process design.
• Develop technical proposals and contribute to bid evaluations for new projects.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant codes, standards, and company policies.

Requirements

• Master's or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering.
• 15+ years of progressive experience in process design and engineering within the chemical, petrochemical, or related industries.
• Demonstrated expertise in leading the process design of large-scale capital projects.
• Advanced proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS) and P&ID development tools.
• In-depth knowledge of unit operations, reaction engineering, process control, and safety engineering principles.
• Exceptional leadership, mentoring, and team management skills.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with experience interacting with clients and stakeholders globally.
• Ability to work autonomously and manage complex technical challenges in a remote setting.
• Professional Engineer (PE) registration or equivalent is highly desirable.
