Placements24 is seeking an experienced Chemical Process Design Engineer for a fully remote role. You will conceptualize and develop robust, scalable chemical processes for new projects and plant expansions, leveraging your expertise in process simulation, equipment design, and safety principles.

You will produce PFDs and P&IDs, specify reactors and heat exchangers, run simulations to optimize cost and safety, and prepare detailed design reports.

Qualifications

About the Role

This role is essential for conceptualizing and developing robust, scalable, and economically viable chemical processes for new projects and plant expansions. You will leverage your expertise in process simulation, equipment design, and safety principles to create detailed process flow diagrams, P&IDs, and equipment specifications. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the conceptual design and development of new chemical processes and plant facilities.
• Create detailed Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
• Specify process equipment, including reactors, heat exchangers, pumps, and separation units.
• Conduct process simulations and modeling to optimize designs for efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness.
• Perform hazard and operability studies (HAZOP) and ensure designs meet all safety and regulatory requirements.
• Prepare detailed technical documentation, including design reports, operating manuals, and scope of work documents.

Requirements

• Master's or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in process design and engineering, preferably within the chemical or petrochemical industry.
• Expert proficiency with process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS) and CAD tools.
• Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and reaction engineering.
• Extensive knowledge of process safety principles, standards, and practices.
• Proven ability to manage design projects independently and communicate effectively in a remote setting.
