About the Role

Our client, a dynamic and forward-thinking chemical processing firm, is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Principal Chemical Process Engineer to join their innovative team. This is a fully remote, strategic position that requires a deep understanding of chemical engineering principles, process optimization, and project leadership. You will be instrumental in designing, developing, and implementing complex chemical processes from concept to commercialization, working collaboratively with cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate possesses a strong analytical mindset, exceptional problem-solving skills, and a proven track record of delivering successful engineering projects within demanding timelines. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and optimization of chemical processes, ensuring safety, efficiency, and sustainability.
• Conduct feasibility studies, pilot plant trials, and scale-up operations for new chemical products and processes.
• Develop detailed process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and equipment specifications.
• Perform rigorous process simulations and modeling using industry-standard software.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technical staff.
• Oversee hazard and operability (HAZOP) studies and other process safety reviews.
• Collaborate with R&D, operations, and project management teams to ensure seamless project execution.
• Manage capital expenditure projects related to process improvements and new plant installations.
• Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry best practices in chemical engineering.

Requirements

• Master's or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in chemical process design, development, and scale-up, preferably within the specialty chemicals or petrochemical industry.
• Demonstrated expertise in process modeling and simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS).
• Proven experience in leading complex engineering projects from inception to completion.
• Strong understanding of process safety management (PSM) principles and practices.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
• Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a remote work environment.
• Professional Engineer (PE) certification is a plus.
