Placements24 is seeking an experienced Remote Electrical Design Engineer to lead power distribution design for diverse projects worldwide. You will craft single-line diagrams, perform load flow and protection studies, and specify transformers, switchgear, and cabling while ensuring compliance with SANS, IEC, and IEEE standards.

The role requires 6+ years in power distribution design, expertise in ETAP/DIgSILENT, and the ability to work autonomously in a remote setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with emphasis on power systems.
• 6+ years of professional experience in electrical power distribution design.
• Proficiency in power system analysis software (ETAP, PSS/E, DIgSILENT PowerFactory).
• Experience with CAD software for electrical design (AutoCAD).

Responsibilities

• Design and develop electrical power distribution systems, including single-line diagrams, schematics, and equipment specifications.
• Perform load flow, short circuit, and protection coordination studies for distribution networks.
• Select transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, cabling, and protection devices.
• Ensure designs comply with national and international electrical codes and standards (SANS, IEC, IEEE).
• Provide technical support during procurement, installation, and commissioning phases.
• Conduct design reviews and quality checks to ensure reliability of power distribution solutions.
