Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer for a fully remote role within South Africa. You will lead the design and development of reliable power distribution systems, including substations and protection schemes, while coordinating with clients and project teams online.

You should bring at least 7 years of experience, a B.Eng or B.Tech in Electrical Engineering, and proficiency with ETAP, PSS/E, and DIgSILENT PowerFactory.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level degree in electrical engineering is required.
• Minimum 7 years of professional experience in electrical power distribution design.
• Proficiency with electrical design and simulation software (ETAP, PSS/E, DigiSILENT PowerFactory).

Responsibilities

• Design and engineer electrical power distribution systems including substations, switchgear, and protection schemes.
• Develop detailed schematics, single-line diagrams, cable schedules, and equipment specifications.
• Perform load flow, short-circuit, and protection coordination studies.
• Ensure designs comply with SANS and international electrical codes.
• Collaborate with clients and project teams via virtual platforms.
• Provide technical support during procurement, installation, and commissioning phases.
• Review contractor submittals and respond to technical queries.
