Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a proactive Remote Insurance Underwriter specializing in Personal Lines to join a fully remote South Africa team. You will evaluate applications, determine premiums, and set policy terms for homeowners, auto, and travel policies.

The ideal candidate has at least 3 years in personal lines underwriting, strong analytical skills, and ability to work independently while maintaining underwriting standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in underwriting personal lines insurance products.
• Solid understanding of personal insurance policies, risk factors, and pricing strategies.
• Excellent written and verbal communication suitable for remote interaction.
• Must be legally authorized to work remotely in South Africa.
• Proficiency with underwriting systems, CRM software, and virtual collaboration tools.
• Self-discipline and organization to manage workload remotely.

Responsibilities

• Assess and underwrite new personal lines insurance applications (home, auto, etc.) based on guidelines and risk appetite.
• Determine premiums, deductibles, and policy terms and conditions.
• Analyze client information to evaluate risk.
• Utilize underwriting software and online resources for risk assessment and decision-making.
• Communicate underwriting decisions to brokers, agents, and clients digitally.
• Review and manage policy endorsements and mid-term adjustments.
• Identify and report on emerging trends and risks in personal lines insurance.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal underwriting policies.
• Contribute to the development of underwriting guidelines and procedures.
• Manage a portfolio of risks in a remote setting.
