Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Remote Payroll Accountant to manage all aspects of payroll processing, deductions, and remittances for a distributed workforce. This role requires strong accuracy, knowledge of SA payroll legislation, and proficiency with VIP or Sage Payroll in a remote setting.

You will coordinate with HR and finance, handle new hires, terminations, and changes in compensation, prepare tax filings, reconcile accounts, and generate management reports.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum 4 years of payroll accounting or administration.
• Solid knowledge of South African payroll legislation (UIF, PAYE, SDL).
• Experience with VIP or Sage Payroll is required.
• Ability to work remotely with minimal supervision and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Process payroll on a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly basis with accuracy.
• Ensure compliance with SA labor laws, tax regulations, and policies.
• Manage payroll data: new hires, terminations, and changes.
• Prepare and submit payroll tax filings and payments.
• Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve discrepancies.
• Generate payroll reports for management, HR, and finance.
• Liaise with third-party payroll providers as needed.
