Job summary

Placements24 seeks a seasoned Data Scientist to join a remote-first team revolutionizing data analytics in the Oil & Gas sector. You will develop predictive models, analyze large datasets, and collaborate with geoscientists to drive operational efficiency from anywhere, including Bloemfontein and beyond.

The role requires expertise in ML/AI, strong programming in Python or R, and deep understanding of the oil value chain.

Qualifications

• Master's or Ph.D. in Data Science, CS, Stats, Math, or related quantitative field.
• 6+ years of professional Data Scientist experience with ML/AI in Oil & Gas.
• Proficiency in Python or R and libraries such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and deploy ML models for Oil & Gas challenges (predictive maintenance, reservoir forecasting, operations).
• Clean, transform, and analyze large, complex data from energy sector sources.
• Design data mining algorithms and statistical analyses to uncover trends and patterns.
• Collaborate with geoscientists and engineers to translate business needs into data science solutions.
• Build dashboards and visualizations to communicate findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Contribute to data infrastructure and pipelines.
• Stay updated on data science and AI advancements and document methodologies.
