Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Remote Data Scientist for a global Oil & Gas client. You will develop and deploy ML models for predictive maintenance, anomaly detection, and production optimization while analyzing seismic and production data.

Work with geoscientists and engineers, build data pipelines, uphold data quality, and communicate insights through visuals. This fully remote role requires 5+ years in data science, strong Python/R and cloud skills, and strong collaboration across distributed

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in a quantitative field such as Data Science, CS, Stats, or Math.
• 5+ years of Data Scientist experience focusing on ML in energy or similar sector.
• Proficiency in Python or R with libraries like TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, Pandas, NumPy.
• SQL and experience with large-scale databases; NoSQL a plus.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) and big data tools (Spark, Hadoop).
• Strong statistical modeling, experimental design, and ML algorithm knowledge.
• Excellent communication and ability to work remotely in distributed teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and deploy ML models for predictive maintenance, anomaly detection, and performance optimization of upstream assets.
• Analyze large datasets related to geological surveys, seismic data, production volumes, and well performance.
• Design and conduct A/B tests and experiments to evaluate new algorithms and models.
• Collaborate remotely with geologists, engineers, and operations to understand data needs and provide insights.
• Build data pipelines and ensure data quality, integrity, and availability for analysis.
• Communicate complex findings clearly via visualizations and reports to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Stay current with data science advances and applicability to Oil & Gas.
• Develop and maintain documentation for models, algorithms, and data processes.
• Contribute to overall data strategy and analytics best practices.
• Ensure work adheres to data privacy and security standards.
