Job summary

Placements24 is hiring a Remote NOC Technician to monitor and maintain our client’s network infrastructure from a home office within South Africa. You will handle incident detection, diagnosis, and resolution, and escalate when needed.

The role requires 1–3 years in NOC or similar, strong networking fundamentals, and experience with Nagios/Zabbix/SolarWinds and ServiceNow/Jira. Remote work, 24/7 shifts, and a collaborative team environment are offered.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of experience in a Network Operations Center (NOC) or similar network monitoring role.
• Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, and switching.
• Experience with network monitoring tools (Nagios, Zabbix, SolarWinds) and ticketing systems (ServiceNow, Jira).
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting.

Responsibilities

• Actively monitor network performance, availability, and security using NOC tools and dashboards.
• Identify, diagnose, and resolve network incidents and outages according to established procedures.
• Escalate complex issues to senior engineers or relevant teams when necessary.
• Perform routine network health checks and preventative maintenance tasks.
• Respond to alerts and alarms generated by network monitoring systems promptly.
• Document all incidents, actions taken, and resolutions in the ticketing system.
• Communicate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders regarding network status and resolution progress.
• Contribute to the development and refinement of NOC procedures and best practices.
• Participate in shift rotations to ensure continuous 24/7 network monitoring and support.
