Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Remote Health & Safety Officer to promote compliance and best practices across mining operations. The role involves developing, implementing, and monitoring safety systems, conducting risk assessments, and guiding regulatory adherence from a remote location near Vereeniging.

You will lead incident investigations, drive safety training, and report on safety performance while collaborating with sites remotely.

Qualifications

• A degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years in Health & Safety management, ideally in mining.
• Strong knowledge of H&S legislation, risk assessment methods and ISO 45001.
• Excellent report writing and analytical abilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement and maintain Health & Safety management systems and procedures.
• Carry out risk assessments, safety audits and site inspections (remote and on-site as needed).
• Lead incident investigations, identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with national and mining safety regulations and standards.
• Deliver safety training and toolbox talks to site personnel.
• Monitor safety metrics and prepare detailed management reports.
