Placements24 is seeking a proactive Remote Safety Officer to support extensive mining operations from a remote location. You will develop safety protocols, conduct virtual risk assessments, analyze safety data, and promote a strong safety culture across dispersed teams.

The role requires a degree in OHS, 5+ years in mining safety, and expertise in ISO 45001/OHSAS 18001. Strong communication and proficiency with safety software and remote tools are essential.

Qualifications

• Relevant degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a safety role within the mining industry.
• Knowledge of OHSAS 18001/ISO 45001 and mining safety regulations.
• Proven ability to conduct effective risk assessments and develop safety procedures.
• Excellent communication, reporting, and presentation skills, particularly in a virtual setting.
• Proficiency in safety management software and remote collaboration tools.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and monitor health and safety management systems for mining operations.
• Conduct remote risk assessments and safety audits using virtual tools and data analysis.
• Investigate incidents, near misses, and accidents, providing detailed reports and corrective action plans.
• Promote and champion a strong safety culture through online training, communication campaigns, and engagement.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant national and international health and safety legislation and standards.
• Maintain accurate safety records and statistics, and prepare regular safety performance reports.
