Job summary

Placements24 is hiring a dedicated HSE Officer to join a fully remote team overseeing mining operations near Paarl. You will develop and implement HSE policies, conduct audits, investigate incidents, and promote a strong safety culture across multiple sites from your remote location.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field, at least 5 years of HSE experience in mining, and strong auditing, investigation, and reporting skills.

Qualifications

• 5+ years as HSE professional, mining experience preferred
• Knowledge of SA mining regulations (MHSA, NEMA) and ISO 14001/45001
• Strong auditing, investigation and reporting skills
• Excellent communication and training abilities

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain HSE management systems
• Conduct site audits and risk assessments
• Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses; document findings and actions
• Develop and deliver HSE training programs
• Monitor compliance with legislation and best practices in mining
• Prepare HSE reports for management and regulators
