Job summary

Placements24 in South Africa is seeking a vigilant Health and Safety Officer to join a remote team supporting mining operations across the country. You will develop, implement and monitor health and safety protocols, conduct risk assessments, deliver engaging training, investigate incidents, and uphold high standards of occupational health and safety, including MHSA compliance.

The role requires strong communication skills for a remote environment and a proactive safety culture to protect

Qualifications

• Diploma/degree in Occupational Health and Safety.
• Registered Safety Professional with SACPCMP or equivalent.
• 4+ years in occupational health and safety, mining preferred.
• Strong MHSA knowledge and risk assessment methods.
• Excellent communication for a remote role.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement H&S management systems and procedures.
• Conduct inspections and risk assessments to identify hazards.
• Investigate incidents, near misses and accidents with corrective actions.
• Deliver engaging health and safety training to employees and contractors.
• Ensure compliance with MHSA and mining regulations.
• Maintain safety records, statistics and regular reports.
• Promote a positive safety culture through engagement campaigns.
