Job summary

Our client seeks a Mine Planning Engineer to design and optimize mine plans for safe, efficient resource extraction, using advanced modeling software and cross-functional collaboration to develop production schedules.

This fully remote role requires a strong background in mining methods, excellent analytical and communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple planning projects independently across open-pit and underground operations. Candidates should be based in South Africa.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
• 6+ years of experience in mine planning and design, open-pit or underground.
• Proficiency with mine planning software (Deswik, Vulcan or similar).

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize mine plans and production schedules using specialized mine planning software.
• Conduct geological modeling and resource estimation to inform mine design.
• Perform economic evaluations of different mining scenarios and layouts.
• Ensure mine plans comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with operations, geology, and survey teams to integrate plans.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, and visualizations of mine plans for stakeholders.
