Placements24 client seeks a Mechanical Design Specialist for a fully remote role supporting Paarl-area projects. You will drive detailed design, model development, and documentation from conception to implementation in a flexible, autonomous environment.

The ideal candidate brings 5+ years in detailed mechanical design, strong CAD skills (SolidWorks/AutoCAD), and a proven ability to work remotely with cross-functional teams, ensuring high-quality outputs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of detailed mechanical design and drafting experience.
• Expert proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar platforms.
• Solid understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and GD&T.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively and communicate clearly in a remote setting.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality design work.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings for complex mechanical parts and assemblies using advanced CAD software.
• Perform tolerance analysis, design for manufacturability (DFM), and design for assembly (DFA) assessments.
• Collaborate virtually with project managers, manufacturing engineers, and other stakeholders to refine designs.
• Support prototyping and testing phases by providing necessary design documentation and troubleshooting assistance.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards and project-specific requirements.
• Maintain and organize design data and documentation within a version-controlled system.
