Placements24 is seeking a highly skilled Remote Mechanical Design Engineer within South Africa to drive innovative product development. You will design, analyze, and document mechanical components and systems to meet stringent performance requirements, working autonomously in a distributed team.

The role requires 6+ years in mechanical design, expertise in SolidWorks/CATIA/Inventor and FEA tools (ANSYS/ABAQUS), and strong knowledge of materials and manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 6+ years of professional mechanical design experience.
• Proficient in SolidWorks, CATIA or Inventor and simulation tools.
• Knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and prototyping.
• Strong communication and remote collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Conceptualize and develop mechanical systems with 3D CAD.
• Perform FEA and thermal simulations to verify performance.
• Create manufacturing drawings, BOMs, and tolerances.
• Collaborate with remote cross-functional teams.
• Maintain design documentation and version control.
• Stay updated on new design methodologies.
