Placements24 is seeking a highly competent Mechanical Design Engineer for a fully remote contract position in South Africa. You will independently drive design and development of bespoke mechanical systems from concept to detailed drawings, collaborating with clients remotely.

Requirements include a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, 5+ years' experience with custom machinery, and proficiency in Inventor or SolidWorks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of mechanical design experience with custom or specialty machinery.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (Inventor, SolidWorks).
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and materials.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and autonomous design approach.
• Proven ability to work remotely and manage projects.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop novel mechanical systems for specialized machinery using CAD.
• Create detailed 3D models, 2D drawings, and BOMs.
• Perform engineering calculations to verify designs.
• Collaborate with clients and project managers remotely for updates.
• Select materials and manufacturing processes for unique designs.
• Troubleshoot design issues and propose remote-ready solutions.
• Ensure functionality, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness.
• Stay updated on new mechanical design technologies and practices.
• Prepare technical docs and reports for client submission.
