Placements24 seeks a Remote Mechanical Design Engineer to lead design, analysis and validation of advanced mechanical components for renewable energy and high-performance applications from anywhere in South Africa.

Requires a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, 8+ years' progressive experience, and strong 3D CAD/FEA skills. You will collaborate with a dispersed team and support remote prototyping and testing, delivering reliable, efficient solutions.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years of progressive mechanical design and analysis experience.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD and FEA/CFD tools.
• Experience designing components for demanding applications.
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication using virtual tools.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop complex mechanical components and systems using Creo or SolidWorks.
• Conduct stress, thermal, fatigue, and vibration analyses using FEA.
• Create manufacturing drawings and BOMs compliant with standards.
• Collaborate with dispersed team via Slack/Teams/Zoom.
• Support remote prototyping, testing, and validation.
• Evaluate new materials and manufacturing processes.
• Improve remote design workflows and collaboration strategies.
• Prepare technical reports and design reviews.
• Identify and address potential design risks.
