Placements24 is seeking a highly skilled Remote Mechanical Design Specialist based in South Africa to drive innovative product development from a home office.

You will design, analyze, and refine complex mechanical systems, collaborating virtually with a global team and contributing to the full development lifecycle. A strong background in CAD, simulation tools, and independent work is essential.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on mechanical design and product development.
• Proficient in 3D CAD and assemblies for electronics or industrial machinery.
• Experience with ANSYS or COMSOL simulations.
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting with strong communication.
• Develop and maintain design specs and test reports.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies using advanced CAD.
• Create 3D models, 2D drawings, and BOMs.
• Perform FEA/CFD analyses for performance and safety.
• Collaborate with remote cross-functional teams across disciplines.
• Participate in virtual design reviews and implement improvements.
• Select materials and manufacturing processes for components.
• Document design specifications and test reports.
• Troubleshoot design issues across the product lifecycle.
