Placements24 is seeking a Lead UX/UI Designer to drive the user experience strategy for its digital products in a fully remote team. The role requires mentoring a growing design group, collaborating with product managers and engineers, and championing user-centered design across the organization.

You will lead end-to-end design efforts, develop personas and information architecture, and ensure consistency with design systems while staying ahead of UX/UI trends in a remote environment.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in UX/UI design with at least 3 years in lead or senior roles.

About the Role

Our client is a pioneering tech startup dedicated to revolutionizing the digital experience through intuitive and aesthetically pleasing interfaces. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lead UX/UI Designer to join our fully remote team, based strategically near Tembisa, Gauteng , though physical location is secondary to talent. This is a critical role where you will define and drive the user experience strategy for our suite of innovative digital products. You will be responsible for leading design initiatives from conception through to implementation, ensuring that our users' needs are at the forefront of every decision. As a Lead, you will mentor a growing design team, champion best practices in UX/UI design, and collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to deliver world-class digital solutions. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end design process for all digital products, from user research and wireframing to high-fidelity prototyping and final UI design.
• Develop user personas, journey maps, and information architecture to guide design decisions.
• Create intuitive and engaging user interfaces that align with our brand identity and business objectives.
• Conduct user testing and usability studies to gather feedback and iterate on designs.
• Collaborate with product management and engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of design into development.
• Mentor and guide junior UX/UI designers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing design culture.
• Define and maintain design systems and style guides to ensure consistency across all platforms.
• Stay abreast of the latest UX/UI trends, tools, and methodologies, and advocate for their adoption where appropriate.
• Present design concepts and research findings to stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
• Advocate for the user throughout the product development lifecycle.

Requirements

• A strong portfolio demonstrating extensive experience in UX/UI design for web and mobile applications, showcasing a deep understanding of user-centered design principles and a proven track record of success.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in UX/UI design, with at least 3 years in a lead or senior role.
• Proficiency in design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, InVision, or similar.
• Experience conducting user research, usability testing, and analyzing user feedback.
• Solid understanding of interaction design, visual design, and information architecture.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and leadership skills, with the ability to effectively articulate design decisions and inspire a team.
• Experience working in an agile development environment.
• Ability to work autonomously and manage projects effectively in a remote setting.
• A degree in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Design, Psychology, or a related field is highly desirable.
• Experience with front-end development concepts (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) is a plus.
