Placements24 is seeking a visionary Lead UI/UX Designer to spearhead design initiatives from Cape Town, Western Cape. This fully remote role offers the flexibility to work from anywhere in South Africa, collaborating with product managers and developers to deliver intuitive interfaces and engaging experiences.

You will lead a design team, develop design systems, and mentor junior designers while staying current with UI/UX trends and testing methods.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Design, HCI, CS, or related field or equivalent practical experience.
• 7+ years of UI/UX design, with at least 2 years in lead or senior capacity.
• Strong portfolio showing complex problem solving in digital products.
• Experience collaborating with product managers and engineers in agile environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead the UI/UX design process from research to high-fidelity prototyping and final visuals.
• Develop and maintain design systems, style guides, and component libraries.
• Conduct user research, usability testing, and A/B testing to validate decisions.
• Collaborate with product managers and engineers to translate requirements into interfaces.

About the Role

Our client, a prominent tech solutions provider, is seeking a talented and visionary Lead UI/UX Designer to spearhead their design initiatives from Cape Town, Western Cape. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere within South Africa. You will be at the forefront of creating intuitive, engaging, and aesthetically pleasing user interfaces and experiences for our client's innovative digital products. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the entire UI/UX design process, from user research and wireframing to high-fidelity prototyping and final visual design.
• Develop and maintain design systems, style guides, and component libraries to ensure consistency across all digital products.
• Conduct user research, usability testing, and A/B testing to gather insights and validate design decisions.
• Collaborate closely with product managers and engineers to define user requirements and translate them into functional and visually appealing interfaces.
• Mentor and guide junior designers, providing constructive feedback and fostering their professional growth.
• Present design concepts and rationale to stakeholders, effectively communicating the value and impact of design solutions.
• Stay abreast of the latest UI/UX trends, technologies, and best practices, and advocate for their adoption.
• Champion user-centered design principles throughout the organization.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Design, HCI, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in UI/UX design, with at least 2 years in a lead or senior capacity.
• Extensive experience with design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar.
• Proven ability to conduct user research, usability testing, and translate findings into actionable design improvements.
• Strong understanding of front-end development principles and constraints (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
• Excellent communication, presentation, and collaboration skills, with the ability to articulate complex design ideas clearly.
• A robust portfolio showcasing a variety of successful digital product designs and user experiences.
• Experience working in an agile development environment.
