Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a seasoned Lead Quantity Surveyor to join our fully remote team in South Africa. You will oversee budgeting, cost estimation, and final account settlements across large commercial and industrial projects, while mentoring a team of QS professionals.

The ideal candidate holds a Master’s degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Economics, is MRICS or PrQS registered, and has 12+ years of progressive leadership experience with JBCC/NEC contracts.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Economics.
• MRICS or PrQS registration is essential.
• Minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in quantity surveying with leadership responsibilities.
• Extensive experience managing budgets for large-scale commercial and industrial projects.
• Expert knowledge of JBCC and NEC contract forms.

Responsibilities

• Lead the quantity surveying function for multiple construction projects, ensuring accurate cost control and financial reporting.
• Develop detailed cost plans, feasibility studies, and bills of quantities for complex projects.
• Manage contract administration, including tender evaluation, negotiation, and dispute resolution.
• Oversee the valuation of work in progress and manage payment applications and final accounts.
• Provide expert advice on cost-saving measures, procurement strategies, and risk mitigation.
• Mentor and manage a team of quantity surveyors, fostering their professional development.
