Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our George-based construction team. You will manage costs from estimates to final accounts, drive procurement, tenders, and contract administration for commercial projects across the Western Cape.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in QS, 7+ years experience, and strong knowledge of JBCC/NEC contracts, with excellent negotiation and analytical skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the commercial construction sector.
• Proficiency in cost estimating software and standard contract forms (JBCC/NEC).
• Excellent understanding of construction methods, materials and market prices.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed bills of quantities, tender documents and cost estimates for construction projects.
• Manage and control project budgets, monitor expenditure and forecast costs accurately.
• Administer contracts including variations, claims and payments.
• Conduct site visits to monitor progress and quality and mitigate cost overruns.
• Negotiate with contractors and suppliers to secure best terms and prices.
• Prepare financial reports and present cost analyses to stakeholders.
