Placements24 is seeking a Lead Electrical Distribution Engineer to coordinate remote teams delivering robust distribution networks across South Africa. You will oversee design, planning, and optimization, using CYME, ETAP, and PowerFactory to ensure reliable power delivery and safety compliance.

Ideal candidates hold a PE/Pr. Eng and have 8+ years in distribution, with strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with Power Systems or Distribution specialization.
• 8+ years of experience in electrical distribution engineering.
• Experience with distribution system analysis software (CYME, ETAP, PowerFactory).
• Strong understanding of protection principles and coordination for distribution systems.
• Proven ability to lead remote teams and manage projects effectively.
• PE or Pr. Eng registration is mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and analysis of electrical distribution systems including overhead and underground networks.
• Develop long‑term system expansion and reinforcement plans.
• Conduct load flow, fault studies, and protection coordination analyses.
• Specify and select distribution equipment such as transformers, switchgear, and conductors.
• Ensure designs comply with electrical codes, standards, and safety regulations.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to a remote team of electrical engineers.
• Collaborate remotely with planning, operations, and construction departments.
• Develop technical specifications for equipment procurement and construction contracts.
• Stay abreast of new technologies and best practices in electrical distribution engineering.
