About the Role

Our client is actively seeking a proactive and technically adept Remote IT Support Specialist to join their distributed team. This role is designed for an individual who excels in providing comprehensive technical assistance and troubleshooting services entirely via remote channels. You will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth operation of our client's IT infrastructure, supporting employees across various locations with their hardware, software, and network issues. This position emphasizes exceptional communication skills, problem-solving capabilities, and the ability to work autonomously in a remote setting, contributing to a seamless user experience regardless of physical location. The successful candidate will be based anywhere in South Africa but expected to maintain consistent communication and support hours.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide timely and effective technical support to end-users via phone, email, and remote access tools.
• Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, network, and peripheral device issues.
• Install, configure, and maintain computer systems, applications, and other IT equipment.
• Assist with user account management, including setup, modification, and deletion.
• Document all support interactions, issues, and resolutions meticulously in the ticketing system.
• Proactively identify and escape complex or recurring technical problems to senior IT staff.

Requirements

• Proven experience in an IT Support or Help Desk role, preferably in a remote capacity.
• Strong knowledge of Windows and macOS operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and common business applications.
• Experience with network troubleshooting (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and remote support tools.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical users.
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize tasks in a remote work environment.
• Relevant IT certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+) are a plus.
