Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an IT Helpdesk Technician to join a rapidly expanding IT consultancy. The role is remote-first with occasional site visits to Centurion, Gauteng, focusing on resolving hardware, software, and network issues for a diverse client base.

You will provide first- and second-level support, manage Active Directory, perform maintenance, and document solutions in the knowledge base, while delivering excellent customer service and collaborating with the IT team.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as an IT Helpdesk Technician or similar role.
• Strong knowledge of Windows and macOS operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and common business applications.
• Experience with network troubleshooting (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
• Familiarity with Active Directory and Office 365 administration.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities, with a focus on customer service.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting.
• Relevant IT certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft Certified) are highly desirable.
• Must be able to travel occasionally to Centurion, Gauteng for specific tasks as required.
• A proactive attitude towards learning new technologies and adapting to changing IT environments.

Responsibilities

• Provide first- and second-level technical support to end-users via remote access tools, phone, and email.
• Install, configure, and maintain computer hardware, software, systems, networks, printers, and scanners.
• Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues, escalating to senior technicians when necessary.
• Manage user accounts, permissions, and access rights within the Active Directory environment.
• Perform regular system maintenance, updates, and patches to ensure security and performance.
• Assist with the setup and configuration of new user workstations and mobile devices.
• Document technical procedures, solutions, and troubleshooting steps in the knowledge base.
• Monitor system performance and identify potential issues before they impact users.
• Provide training and guidance to users on IT best practices and system usage.
• Collaborate with other IT team members on projects and system improvements.
