About the Role

Our client is actively seeking a highly specialized Remote HR Specialist focusing on Compliance and Policy development to join their globally distributed team. This is a fully remote position, requiring a deep understanding of South African labour laws and extensive experience in creating and implementing HR policies. You will be instrumental in ensuring our client's HR practices are compliant, ethical, and aligned with best practices across all jurisdictions they operate in, with a particular emphasis on the South African context. The ideal candidate is a meticulous individual with strong analytical skills, capable of interpreting complex legislation and translating it into actionable policies and procedures. This role is crucial for maintaining legal and ethical standards within the organization, operating entirely from a remote location. We are looking for an expert who can provide strategic guidance and robust policy frameworks to support our workforce.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, review, and update HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with current South African labour legislation (e.g., BCEA, LRA, EEA, SDA).
• Conduct regular audits of HR practices to identify areas of non-compliance and propose corrective actions.
• Advise management and HR teams on complex compliance matters and legislative changes.
• Manage the implementation of new HR policies and procedures across the organization, including communication and training strategies.
• Investigate and resolve employee relations issues with a focus on compliance and risk mitigation.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of labour laws and regulatory requirements, providing proactive insights.
• Develop and deliver training sessions on HR policies, compliance, and best practices to employees and managers.
• Prepare reports on HR compliance status and audit findings for senior leadership.
• Collaborate with legal counsel and external consultants on compliance-related matters.
• Ensure all HR documentation and records are maintained in accordance with legal and company requirements.

Requirements

• A Master's degree in Law, Human Resources Management, Industrial Psychology, or a related field.
• A minimum of 6-8 years of experience specifically in HR compliance, policy development, and employment law.
• Expert knowledge of South African labour legislation and its practical application.
• Proven experience in developing and implementing comprehensive HR policies and procedures.
