Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Law or HR or related field required.

About the Role

Our client, a leading international technology firm with a significant presence in South Africa, is seeking an experienced Remote HR Compliance Manager. This is a critical role responsible for ensuring that all HR practices and policies align with South African labor laws and international best practices. The successful candidate will be adept at navigating complex regulatory environments and implementing robust compliance frameworks. This position is fully remote, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere within South Africa, provided you have a stable internet connection and a conducive work environment. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and possesses a strong understanding of employment legislation. This role is essential for mitigating risks and ensuring ethical HR operations across the organization. Experience in technology or a related industry is highly preferred. The manager will be responsible for developing and maintaining a culture of compliance throughout the company. The focus will be on proactive risk assessment and management.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive HR compliance programs and policies.
• Ensure adherence to all South African labor laws, including the Basic Conditions of Employment Act, Labour Relations Act, and EEA.
• Conduct regular audits of HR practices and systems to identify potential compliance gaps.
• Investigate and resolve compliance-related issues and employee grievances.
• Develop and deliver training programs on HR compliance topics for employees and managers.
• Stay updated on changes in labor laws and regulations, and advise the organization accordingly.
• Manage government reporting requirements, such as EEA submissions.
• Oversee the development and implementation of fair and consistent disciplinary and grievance procedures.
• Advise on employment contracts, policies, and procedures to ensure legal compliance.
• Act as the primary point of contact for legal counsel on HR-related compliance matters.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Law, Human Resources, or a related field.
• A Master's degree is advantageous.
• Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in HR, with a strong focus on HR compliance and employment law.
• In-depth knowledge of South African labor legislation and regulations.
• Proven experience in developing and implementing compliance programs and conducting HR audits.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, suitable for a remote environment.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
• Experience with HRIS systems and compliance management software.
