Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Security Compliance Specialist to lead our client’s privacy and security programs in a fully remote role. You will drive HIPAA, POPIA, and related regulatory compliance across systems and processes.

You will conduct audits, risk assessments, and training, collaborating with IT, legal, and business units. The role emphasizes autonomous work style in a distributed team and requires experience in healthcare compliance frameworks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Cybersecurity, Law, or related field.
• 4–6 years of experience in information security compliance, preferably in healthcare.
• Knowledge of HIPAA, HITECH, POPIA, GDPR are preferred.
• Experience with NIST CSF and ISO 27001.
• Strong understanding of data security principles and technologies.
• Certifications such as CIPP, CHPS, CISA, or CISSP are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage information security compliance programs (HIPAA, POPIA, GDPR).
• Conduct regular security audits and risk assessments to identify gaps.
• Ensure adherence to internal security policies and best practices.
• Monitor regulatory changes and update compliance programs accordingly.
• Prepare and present compliance reports to management and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with IT, legal, and business units to address requirements.
• Manage data privacy initiatives and ensure compliance with data protection laws.
• Deliver security and compliance awareness training to employees.
• Investigate and manage compliance-related incidents.
• Maintain documentation related to security policies and compliance activities.
