Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a qualified Geotechnical Engineer to join their fully remote engineering team. You will evaluate subsurface conditions and provide foundational recommendations for a wide range of construction projects.

Based in South Africa, you will work independently with colleagues nationwide, delivering geotechnical reports, design parameters, and risk mitigation strategies while supporting infrastructure development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field; Master's geotechnical preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of geotechnical engineering experience.
• Proficient in GeoStudio and Plaxis; strong site investigation skills.
• Ability to communicate technical information effectively and work remotely.

Responsibilities

• Conduct geotechnical investigations including soil borings and laboratory testing.
• Provide recommendations for foundation design, slope stability, and earth retention systems.
• Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports with site characterization and design parameters.
• Collaborate with project teams to address geotechnical challenges and ensure project feasibility.
• Utilize geotechnical software for modeling and analysis of soil-structure interactions.
• Oversee and interpret data from remote site investigations and field monitoring programs.
