Placements24 is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join a fully remote team focused on foundation design for major infrastructure and building projects in South Africa. You will provide expert geotechnical advice, conduct complex analyses, and lead the development of foundation solutions ensuring structural stability and safety.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 9 years of progressive experience in geotechnical engineering consulting.
• Advanced knowledge and practical application of geotechnical software (PLAXIS 2D/3D, GeoStudio).
• Proven track record in designing foundations for high-rise buildings, bridges, or industrial facilities.
• Deep understanding of South African soil mechanics and foundation engineering principles.
• Exceptional report writing, presentation, and client liaison skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the geotechnical investigation and analysis for complex foundation designs, including deep and shallow foundations.
• Develop detailed foundation design reports, specifications, and recommendations for clients.
• Oversee and interpret results from site investigations, including drilling, CPT, and laboratory testing.
• Provide expert technical guidance on slope stability, earth retention systems, and ground improvement techniques.
• Collaborate with structural engineers and architects remotely to ensure optimal integration of geotechnical considerations.
• Mentor and guide junior geotechnical engineers and technicians within the remote team structure.
