Job summary

Placements24 invites a remote Bioinformatics Research Scientist to design and optimize pipelines for genomic, transcriptomic, and proteomic data. You will develop novel computational methods and collaborate with bench scientists to interpret results in a distributed team setting.

The ideal candidate holds a PhD or MSc in a quantitative field, with 4+ years of bioinformatics experience, and strong Python or R skills.

Qualifications

• PhD or MSc in a quantitative field related to bioinformatics.
• At least 4 years of experience in bioinformatics or computational biology research.
• Proficiency in Python or R and experience with bioinformatics tools and databases.
• Experience analyzing next-generation sequencing (NGS) data.
• Strong statistics and machine learning knowledge.
• Excellent remote collaboration and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain bioinformatics pipelines for genomic, transcriptomic, and proteomic data.
• Develop novel computational methods to address specific biological research questions.
• Collaborate with experimental biologists to interpret results and guide future research directions.
• Perform statistical analysis, data mining, and visualization of complex biological datasets.
• Document research methodologies, code, and findings for reproducibility.
• Participate in virtual team meetings, contribute to project planning, and present findings remotely.
